Librarians for Frölunda Library

The Culture Administration works for a broad arts and cultural life for everyone to participate in. We strive for a sustainable and open city that places culture and art at its center.

The Culture Administration has approximately 800 employees who mainly operate within libraries, cultural houses, museums, and other cultural activities.

Job Responsibilities

Do you want to work with literature as an art form and with reading as a path to experience, knowledge, and education? Are you looking for a creative job where promoting reading is at the center? We are now looking for two committed and proactive librarians focusing on our adult visitors who want to help develop the operations at Frölunda Library.

As an adult librarian, you will work to develop and drive activities aimed at our adult visitors. Your work is based on a participant-driven perspective. You will develop contact and dialogue with visitors, residents, community organizations, and other stakeholders in the area to create increased participation and influence. The two positions have different focuses - one on fiction and the other on accessibility.

In the role focused on fiction, you will be responsible for driving, developing, and coordinating reading-promoting activities. This may involve planning activities, workshops, exhibitions, and events for adults based on a broad and inclusive concept of text. You will actively work to highlight literature as an art form and contribute to the library's democratic mission by strengthening adult reading and helping to reduce reading gaps in society.

In the role focused on accessibility, you will be responsible for developing and driving the library's accessibility work. You will contribute to strengthening the accessibility perspective with the goal that as many people as possible can take part in the library's activities and services. The work includes planning programs focused on inclusion and reflecting the diversity of society. An important part of the assignment is to reach target groups at risk of being left out and to adapt the operations to different needs and conditions.

The library is part of Frölunda Cultural House where you, together with about 35 colleagues, work for education, democracy, literature, and culture. The position includes evening and weekend work according to a schedule and also involves some work at the library at Opaltorget based on the needs of the operations.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a degree in library and information science.
  • Has experience working in a library or similar public service.
  • Has experience in either reading promotion focused on fiction or working with accessibility issues.

It is a merit if you:

  • Have knowledge in creative areas such as film, podcasts, art, crafts, or writing that can contribute to the development of the library's multimodal activities for adults.
  • Master additional languages beyond good Swedish and English.

As a person, you have the ability to adapt your communication to the person you meet. You are attentive to what needs to be done and contribute new ideas, perspectives, and stimulate dialogue to develop the operations. We value that you take initiative and drive the work forward, whether you work independently or together with others. You have the ability to work collaboratively and promote a respectful work climate.

To provide our users with quality meetings, it is important that you are service-oriented and have the interest, willingness, and ability to help others. You value differences and show understanding for people's varying needs.

We look forward to hearing from you!
